Mar Baselios Mar Gregorios Orthodox Syrian Church, Sreekariyam is located in the heart of Trivandrum City. Our church is under Trivandrum Diocese of the Malankara Orthodox. The patron saints of our church are Mar Baselios and Mar Gregorios.
Few families of Trivandrum St. George Orthodox Syrian Cathedral, residing in and around Sreekariyam formed a congregation in the year 1978. It was this congregation which paved the path to the establishment of the present parish. The members of the congregation started a Sunday school in a temporary building at the present church site. They assembled and conducted prayer meetings on Sundays in the houses. H.G. Geevarghese Mar Dioscorus, the Metropolitan of Thiruvananthapuram Diocese was kind enough to issue a Kalpana to start a new parish at Sreekariyam, declaring the congregation as an independent parish in the name of the Kapodokian Fathers "Mar Baselios and Mar Gregorios" with effect from 17th July 1985. The Sunday school building was converted as a church and the first Holy Qurbana was conducted by Rev Fr. Sam G. Kaleekal.
