St.Mary’s Orthodox Syrian Church Thiruvithamcode

The Thiruvithancode church or Arapally-Thiruvithamcode Arappally- (locally known as “Thomayar kovil”) is one of the ancient churches established by Apostle St. Thomas[citation needed] in A.D 63.

Church_ArappallyThe church is dedicated to St. Mary. It’s believed to be one of the oldest churches in the world[citation needed], where Malankara Christians used to gather.
On December 16, 2007, it was declared a global pilgrim center by the Malankara Orthodox Syrian Church Catholicos H.H Moran Mar Baselios Marthoma Didymos I.The Superior vicar of this church is Very Rev.Barsleebi Ramban.

 

The Historic Thiruvithamcode Church was built by St. Thomas , the Apostle of India  in the name of the Holy Mother St. Mary. This is believed to be one of the oldest church structures in the world.
