Martha Mariam Samajam

Mar Baselios and Mar Gregorios Orthodox Syrian Church was founded in 1985. In the beginning there were 20 families. Now our church has more than 150 families as members. Martha Mariam Samajam was also established simultaneously along with the formation of the church.
In the beginning Samajam meeting were held on all Saturdays in the afternoon under the leadership of the vicar. After the prayer and bible reading, bible classes were held and meditations were conducted on those days. Gradually members were given practice in “Divyaduth” as per the instructions and program of Malankara Orthodox Church.

Our samajam is working under the leadership and guidance given by the church from time to time and participating in all the seminars and conferences conducted by the church. It also helps the diocese in all its social works. It extends its financial help to needed and suffering people within its capacity. Our samajam also helps our parish church financially whenever needed. Members of samajam often visit hospitals and render its help to the hospitalized patients.

Now the samajam meetings are held on all Sundays after the Holy Mass under the leadership of our vicar. The missionaries of the church, students of the theological seminary and Metropolitans who attend the samajam meetings give sufficient spiritual guidance. Every year samajam sponsors some of the children of Marian play home, Vikalangabhavan and Balika Bhavan under the diocese. It renders its help to Visranthi Bhavan also. Office bearers of the samajam are elected annually and works under the guidance of the vicar. Rev: Fr.George Varghese is the president and Mrs.Molly Thomas is the secretary of the samajam now.
